The Conversation is a real time interactive installation, reassembling the function of traditional ticker in a new form and experience. A commission by Hong Kong Stock Exchange to celebrate the newly renovated Connect Hall in Central, Hong Kong.
The three-dimensional sculpture uses light to blink, dance and emote fluctuations in real-time stock market activity.
The installation is created with crossed disciplinary approach, a balance between innovative way of making the hardware with 3D printing CNC to create bespoke shape for metal core and other parts to 3D knitted textile in order to create seamless shell for the sculpture. By writing a bespoke program, this creates a live connection between the stock market and the sculpture, visitor can identify the market performance by the directions of the LED lights performance.
Each of the 384 prongs is unique in its shape and form. This has required the use of high-tech knitting technologies in order to construct a tailor-made, custom-fit knitted coating to be designed for every prong.
